Calendar Sync Not Working On New Computer.

Postby murnaghan » July 1st, 2018, 8:46 pm

I have been using Clinic Office IV since 2009 on the same laptop which has been getting steadily slower over the last two years. The OS was originally Vista and later Windows 7.
I have bought a new Acer Swift laptop with an i5 processor and have installed Clinic Office on it and transferred my license and database successfully. My Clinic Office license includes the Calendar Sync module.
I have also installed my paid for copy of Outlook 2007 which is working and syncing calendars and contacts with my iCloud account.
I did have a problem on my old system due to Microsoft Security upgrade KB4011200 for Outlook which stopped Clinic Office from syncing with Outlook. The solution was to not install that upgrade and all worked well.
The Calendar sync is important to me as I only work in the clinic where I use Clinic Office for two half days a week and it's important that I can see appointments on my phone when I'm not in that office.

On the new computer (Windows 10 Home 64bit), upgrade KB4011200 was installed automatically but I have uninstalled it and blocked it from being reinstalled.
Unfortunately I've been unable to get Clinic Office to sync with Outlook 2007 on my new computer. When I click the sync with Outlook command the new window has the message "Unable to detect any Outlook folders. Either MS Outlook is not installed on this computer, or it is not configured properly".
The 'Outlook Data Folder' dropdown box is greyed out so I can't manually connect to the Outlook.pst file, or choose to connect to another calendar, Google for instance.

How can I get Clinic Office to connect to Outlook 2007 on my new computer? As alternatives I would be happy to sync with either the Windows 10 Calendar App or with Google Calendar but haven't found a way to do this.

Thanks in advance,
Jon

Hi Jon,

Sorry to hear that you are having issues with this. I've looked into this for you, and it seems that Microsoft do not officially support Office 2007 with Windows 10, so if you're happy with using an alternative, then we would suggest using Google Calendar, as this works well.

All you need to do is Right-Click on your diary, and select Calendar Sync then Sync with Google Calendar. Then give ClinicOffice your Google email, and work your way down the options on screen.

Please let us know if you have any issues with this.

Hi Josh,

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm happy to dump Outlook 2007 and to use Google Calendar instead, unfortunately I haven't been able to do so.
When I right click on my diary I get this:

The only option available is Outlook which if I select that opens this screen:

The drop down menu at the top is greyed out and inaccessible. When I bought clinic office, and the calendar sync module, Google calendar wasn't really a thing and Outlook was the only option. Was it called Outlook sync in 2009? Did the module get updated automatically along with the Clinic Office IV automatic upgrades?
Obviously as I reinstalled Clinic Office yesterday I have the latest version. Is my Clinic Office license stuck in 2009?

Maybe I'm missing something very simple. I did download Chrome with the Calendar add on in case Microsoft Edge was the problem. But still no joy.

Hi Jon,

Unfortunately, I notice that you are using ClinicOffice Version 4, and this doesn't support Google Calendar. This was a feature introduced into V5.

As Microsoft no longer supports Office 2007 with Windows 10, it looks as though upgrading to V5 may be the best solution. You would of course receive a discount on your upgrade cost for being an existing customer.

If you would like to go ahead, or have any questions, then please feel free to give our friendly sales team a call on 01205 205500 (Option 1) and they will be able to assist you.

Thanks for your help Josh, even if it wasn't the answer I was hoping for.
